Revenge is something that we view as an option, whenever someone would bring unfortunate to us. So, it's only natural that people would seek for vengeance in such circumstances. And, once we execute it then, all of the past negativity that was harbored disappears into dust and, one begins anew. However, once an attempt on revenge is made it doesn’t end there but, becomes tainted. Dirty. In the play, Merchant of Venice written by William Shakespeare it portrays how revenge does not always guarantee satisfaction because, it can exacerbate the conditions . This notion revolves around a Jewish merchant, Shylock who agrees on a deal with the Christian Antonio, despite past religious discrimination. But things aren’t that excusable as Shylock sets a condition. Which is if Antonio fails to fulfill his part of the deal then, he has the right to claim a pound of flesh from him. As the story progresses, Shylock’s longing for revenge increases. But, once Shylock finally was able to execute it, it backfired. In conclusion, despite a person performing misconduct on another because, revenge is not always sweet as it can worsen your circumstances.
Revenge begins with the inflictor. “A pound of human flesh, taken from a man, is not so saleable, or profitable, as the flesh of mutton, beef or goats. I’m saying that to buy his goodwill, I offer this friendship” . In this scene, Shylock proposes a ‘condition’ which is a facade for his vengeance against Antonio for discriminating his religious identity. By attaining revenge it will act as atonement to the mistreatment that Antonio had performed on him which will ultimately, satiate Shylock's bitterness against Antonio. However, it is only a sugared mask to its true, dark self. “I’m glad of it. I’ll plague him. I’ll torture him. I’m glad of it!”. At this point, Shylock’s close friend Tubal announces that Antonio is incapable of fulfilling his part of the deal which delights Shylock. His enthusiasm enforces him to dream of the varying possibilities. However, because of those possibilities to gain vengeance, Shylock’s mind becomes consumed with it. Shylock becomes obsessed with the thought of gaining revenge on Antonio to the point that its worrying. Rather than becoming satisfied Shylock only worsens his mental state.
Finally, when Antonio is about to gain vengeance, everything collapses. “Take your pound of flesh. But if, in cutting it, you shed one drop of Christian blood, your lands and goods, under the laws of Venice, will be confiscated to the state of Venice” . Right at the moment of retribution, a character named Portia intervenes, she declares from the contract, that if any blood were to be shed then, it would be game over. After that announcement, Shylock drops his act of vengeance and instead asks for an alternate. However, it is too late for another option and, now that Shylock had already attempted at ending Antonio's life there must be retribution from him. There is no satisfaction in conducting or attempting revenge but, only disappointment. "Please grant me permission to leave here. I am not well. Send the will after me.” Shylock barely escapes the temporary trap he was in however, there is still some sort of payback from him. So, Antonio announces that if Shylock wants to continue living then, he must abide by two rules. One, join the religion that he most disliked and two, give half of your possessions to the traitor of a daughter. Because of that, Shylock becomes disheartened, everything had failed for him ever since his mind became geared towards revenge. And now Shylock is in a predicament that he is forced to enter. The pursuit of vengeance bears failure, disappointment, sadness, and overall a worsened situation.
From this, one can learn that revenge should not be used as an option as it can greatly backfire .Although, it is understandable that one one would opt for retribution to let the inflictor receive the same kind of suffering they endured. In this case, Shylock made that choice because, Antonio had discriminated his religious identity so, once a deal was made he jumped at the opportunity to gain revenge. A pound of his flesh shall be cut to make atonement. As the story progresses Shylock’s desire for vengeance increases to the point, that his mind is only consumed of attaining that flesh. Then, when it finally came to the point that Shylock is just about to obtain contentment, it is only interrupted by Portia which disables his acquirement from the contract he signed. Not only that, his most prized possessions (including his religious identity) were confiscated from the people he despised the most. By attempting revenge nothing will be fulfilled but, only worsened circumstances. Because of that, one should never lean on revenge as a choice at any point in their life for it will only lead to misery. In the journey of vengeance, one will never be able to find contentment but, an undesirable situation.

Revenge begins with the one who imposes on them. “You call me an infidel, a cutthroat dog, and you spit on my Jewish garments,” (1.3.107-108). In this line, Antonio asks Shylock to negotiate a deal however, Shylock responds with a long list of the various mistreatment that he had received from Antonio. To the dismay of Shylock, Antonio disregards that matter and continues to press on the deal. Which Shylock resolves with the concept of gaining retribution through this deal. “A pound of human flesh, taken from a man, is not so saleable, or profitable, as the flesh of mutton, beef or goats. I’m saying that to buy his goodwill, I offer this friendship,” (1.3.163-166). In this scene, Shylock makes a solution that is supposedly going to benefit only him by claiming a pound of flesh from his enemy, Antonio. Through attaining that pound of flesh according to Shylock’s theory the religious discrimination will be forgiven and bring great pleasure.
Revenge is fabricated with sweetness. “I’m glad of it. I’ll plague him. I’ll torture him. I’m glad of it!,” (3.1.96-97). At this point, Shylock’s close friend Tubal announces that Antonio is incapable of fulfilling his part of the deal which clearly delights Shylock. With Shylock’s enthusiasm he begins to dream of all the different possibilities that he could do when performing his revenge. This scene clearly displays on how revenge satiates one’s desire through bringing great happiness. However, much to Shylock’s dismay things didn’t exactly turn the way that he expected it to be. “Take your pound of flesh. But if, in cutting it, you shed one drop of Christian blood, your lands and goods, under the laws of Venice, will be confiscated to the state of Venice,” (4.1.305-309). Finally, when Shylock is about to execute revenge upon Antonio he is intervened by another character, Portia who declares from the contract that if any blood were to be shed then, his land and goods will be confiscated. From that point on, Shylock was never able to satiate their lust for the flesh and was disheartened. This represents how one might think that revenge is able to guarantee satisfaction but, in reality only harbors misfortune. In this case, Shylock was handicapped on the way to acquiring revenge on Antonio. To conclude, retribution is bitter.
From this, one can learn that revenge should not be used as an option as it can greatly backfire.
But at first, it’s understandable that one one would opt for revenge to let the inflictor receive the same kind of suffering that one endured. In this case, Shylock believed that because, Antonio had discriminated his religious identity that a pound of his flesh shall be cut. As the story progresses Shylock’s desire for vengeance increases to the point, that his mind is only consumed of attaining that flesh. Then, when it finally came to the point that Shylock is just about to obtain contentment, it is only interrupted by Portia which disables his acquirement by the contract he signed. To sum it up, in the journey of vengeance, one will never be able to find contentment but, an undesirable situation.

- Revisiting the Portia situation, why is the choosing of a man suitable for her out of her hands.
That's because when Portia's father died in their will it clearly said for Portia's spouse to be chosen by a suitor selecting one casket with a portrait of Portia out of three.
- Who is Shylock? What is his importance in the story thus far?
Shylock is a businessman and, also a Jew. Because, Shylock is a Jew they receive discrimination and shame.
- What is the agreement Shylock and Antonio come to terms with?
If Antonio does not pay then, they must provide a pound of their own flesh to Shylock.
- Why is Shylock so hesitant of this agreement with Antonio? While answering this question you should also explain their history and relationship between each other.
Shylock is hesitant of Antonio because, in the past Antonio has done many wrongdoings onto Shylock such as kicking, spitting, etc which makes Shylock wary of Antonio because, now he is asking for a favor and not mistreating them.
- Would you trust Antonio? Why or why not.
I would not trust Antonio because, of their nature. If somebody does not follow the same faith as Antonio then, they'd change personalities to a cruel one because, of that I do not trust that nature and condemn it.

1. What is the setting of the story? What are the people like, the culture etc.?
2. We meet Antonio in the first scene, who exactly is he and what is his worries that he faces early on?
3. We also meet Bassanio a friend of Antonio, what does he ask of Antonio? Explain.
4. Portia worries about finding a husband, so what does she decide to do that she thinks will be best solution to her problem? Explain.
The setting of the story takes place in the 16th century Venice, Italy. During this time era, people seem to be very trusting of each other compared to the present. To illustrate, when Bassanio asks Antonio for a loan in order to woo Portia's heart, Antonio immediately agreed to it and even offered all of their resources. From this we can assume the culture of this setting, is very trusting. However, it also seems to be a culture where only the privileged can thrive. To illustrate, Antonio who is very wealthy is able to loan/guarantee to anyone and even stated that everybody would be willing to do so because, of his reputation. However, other people won't be able to do that because, they don't have as much power as Antonio.
Antonio is a rich venetian/merchant who is very sad for unknown reasons. Even his first lines mention that he does not know what it is made of, where it is from, why he is sad, and just in general doesn't know the sadness that he bears.
Bassanio asks Antonio for a large amount of money in order to woo Portia and visit her in Belmont (I'm not too sure how to spell this but, something like that). However, this wasn't his first time for asking such a large amount of money and still hasn't redressed his past debts. So, by loaning/guaranteeing him money one last time he also promises that they'll make up past and current debt.
Portia resolves this problem by asking her maid, Nerissa to place a wine glass on the wrong casket at the time of the casket game (if you choose the right casket out of the gold, lead, and silver you'll win her) to sway the suitors that are, 'wrong' to her to lose. This way it will eliminate the wrong suitors and leave with the 'right' suitors. Which will solve her worries about finding a husband.

Love is Blind:
I agree with this statement because, love (both romantically and not) are capable to blind someone from seeing the bigger picture. Based on my observations on people partaking in a relationship a lot of the time their mind is consumed with thoughts pertaining to their spouse. A majority of the time, it ends up stashing away any academic related thoughts away which makes their grades go downhill.
One of my closest friend entered their first relationship and when they did a majority of of the time was spent with their spouse and, minimum time was used for academic purposes. Because, they were in 'love' it coerced them to leave their responsibilities to spend time or fantasizing about their significant other.
Another example is the quote, “We accept the love we think we deserve,” from the story ‘Perks of Being A WallFlower.’ There are many interpretations on this quote however, I related it to victims of abusive relationships. A lot of the time victims of such relationships believed that this harmful 'love' was the one that they deserved and, also felt loved. The love they thought they deserved made them blind to the degrading acts that were conducted on them.
To conclude, love is blind.
Stereotypes are often right:
I disagree with this statement because, stereotypes are caricatures of representations for races. They are two-dimensional characters that are used to generalize an entire race. It is bigoted to believe that most people belonging to a certain race follow these stereotypes - when a race is comprised of varying personalities, looks, voices, etc.
For example, a common stereotype is that Asians are unable to speak ‘proper’ English however, many Asians who reside in English speaking countries are able to speak English to their standards of what proper English is. Furthermore, there's a stereotype on Asian peoples’ eyes. The term 'Asian Eyes' refer to small eyes that are deemed as undesirable because, they are not what society considers beautiful. So, whenever someone plasters a big smile and their eyes become smaller, this term would be used to describe that look. This is a stereotype that is wrong because, Asia is a huge continent comprised of varying countries with different looks, voices, cultures, etc. So, to stereotype that all Asians have one eye look is wrong because there are many different eye appearances in Asia.

I do acknowledge the opposing argument is that stereotypes are born through empirical observations which proves why stereotypes are often right. However, that is not the way stereotypes are born but through a generalization of something is made mainstream by the media. For example, Hawaii gained the media’s attention by white people using grass skirts and coconut bras to represent hula girls. After this occurred, it educated the public on a caricature of what a hula girl is like however, because this gained fame many people started to associate a hula girl with coconut bras and a grass skirt. But, there are people within a certain race that do abide by their stereotypes but, does it speak for all people pertaining to that certain race? No. To conclude, stereotypes are often wrong.
A sibling bond between two friends can be just as strong as an intimate/romantic relationship.
Although, I have not been apart of a romantic relationship, I am able to form my opinion through observations.
Agree. A sibling bond can be just as powerful as an intimate relationship because, both are under an umbrella entitled as love however, they are their own sub category. In a sibling bond it involves a lot of trust, reliance, and of course love. Likewise, romantic relationships contain the same emotions. These feelings are cultivated into strong relationships and, because of that they are equal. To illustrate, my sister and I share a powerful bond with each other because, we are able to trust, rely, and love each other for who we are. But, my sister is also in a romantic relationship of 4 years and they are also able to do the same things my sister and I share. In addition, my sister confessed to me that she loves me on the same level as her spouse (actually she said she loved me more) - but, the point is that because both are capable of executing those three emotions which is what makes it equal to each other.
You can break a promise as long as you have a good excuse
Agree. You are able to break a promise through justification. Some promises that are made can endanger the other party is so, it is perfectly reasonable for the party to break it if it is for the greater good. For example, when people marry to each other they vow to be together however, if their relationship goes downhill then, it is okay to break that promise if one or both parties are unhappy. As long as there is just reasoning and good intentions then, it is ok to break a promise.
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth is a good motto to live by.

An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth is a good motto to live by.
Disagree. In my perspective, this is not a good motto to live by because, it can only pave the road for a life of resentment and anger. By always repaying a dirty deed to the other party can take its toll on a person because, of the constant pursuit of revenge. Based o my observations people who ere forgiving lived a more happier, comfortable life whereas, people who abide by this motto were more angrier and uncomfortable with life. For example, whenever I am placed in a bad group I used to feel as if I had to go through any means to make sure they did not get the grade that I received supposing I got a good score (actually even now I still carry this feeling). I would feel very burdened because, I made it my absolute mission to ensure that they were not going to get the same score as me when they did minimal work. However, I’m not saying to let every dirty deed be exempted but, rather to not have such a vengeful mindset for it will lead to a not so good life.
Don’t rely on outward appearances when making judgments.
Disagree. I feel that outward appearances are a poor way of making judgements because, I believe that the reasons behind their actions are a reliable way of making a verdict on somebody. For example, in the book, ‘Of Mice and Men,’ a character named as Curley’s wife was thought as flirtatious and easygoing based on the way they presented themselves. However, as the story progressed Curley’s wife explains why she presented herself in that way was because, she was lonely and later on she also unveiled her past on her broken dreams. This moment reveals Curley’s wife to be lonely and heartbroken through justification of her actions. Therefore, to depend on outward appearances is not good judgement.
Justice is always blind.
Agree/disagree. In this age, I wouldn’t say that justice is blind but, blurred. There are many injustices that have not received the proper consequences for example, Kesha’s rapist producer did not receive their punishment and was free of charges. The reason being was rape culture. Rape culture is victim blaming but, a more better phrase is ‘rapist before victim.’ In this case, the verdict of the producer being free was made because, Kesha acted frivolously according to the DailyNYNews. Because of rape culture being perpetuated it blurred the justification for this crime which should be arrest with being exempt because, of Kesha’s ‘frivolous acts’. However, justice is not completely blind because, there are movements for Kesha's justice known as #freekesha, and many other activist groups that strive for justice to be served and other great ideals. But, as long as evil acts are exempted from their charges justice will not be clear but, blurred.

In the story, "Of Mice and Men," the protagonist George Milton is portrayed as short tempered, and thoughtful. "So you forgot that already, did you? I gotta tell you again do I? Jesus Christ you're a crazy bastard!" (Steinbeck 4). In this line, it expresses how George is clearly angry at their companion Lennie Small because, they forgot where they needed to go which was the ranch. This shows how George is feisty and short tempered because, instead of calmly telling Lennie where they needed to go, George threw a tantrum by shouting slurs at Lennie like, "...Jesus Christ you're a crazy bastard!" (Steinbeck 4). The reason behind George's anger was that this wasn't the first Lennie forgot something, it occurred numerous times which causes George to become frustrated because, he must always be cared for. In addition, because of Lennie's nature being forgetful and unintelligent it makes George short tempered because, they constantly have to deal with Lennie's ways. However, George isn't just a tantrum throwing chapter they also show kindness in their own way. "You never had none, you crazy bastard. I got both of em' here. Think I'd let you carry your own work card?!" (Steinbeck 5). Although, this line doesn't exactly say kindness because, George still throws jabs (which highlights the short temperedness) at Lennie but, they still care for Lennie. Since, George is aware that Lennie is quite forgetful, they made sure that Lennie wouldn't touch the card because they probably would've lost or forgot it somewhere so, George carried their card for Lennie out of thoughtfulness. The main reason behind, George's thoughtfulness is because of Lennie's disability to be responsible so, George must always think of what to do when Lennie's disability gets ahold of them thus, they must always be thoughtful of how to fill up the spaces that Lennie is unable to do.
Besides, George being seen as short tempered and thoughtful, they are also parent like and astute. To illustrate, "You keep away from Curley, Lennie," (Steinbeck 30). In this line, the events that happened beforehand was the introduction between Curley a character who is cocky and likes to cause ruckus and George plus their companion Lennie. As George observes Curley during the greeting, they notice that Curley was trying to intimidate Lennie possibly because, they felt inferior to Lennie or just wanted to boost their authority so, George came to the conclusion because of that impression Lennie must stay away from Curley. This shows how George is a parental character because, like a parent they always look out for any potential dangers that could harm their children in the same way, George is trying to protect Lennie from Curley potentially endangering them. The reason behind their parental nature is because, Lennie is mentally incapable and can't watch out for themselves. It also coerces George to be astute because, if their not then, it will not only endanger Lennie but, George as well. "George looked sharply at him. "What'd you take outa that pocket?" (Steinbeck 6). In this line, what happened beforehand was, Lennie was trying to find out where their work card by pulling something out of their pocket however, George had it because, they knew that Lennie would probably forget it somewhere. But, because Lennie pulled something out of their pocket George becomes suspicious of what exactly is in their pocket. Similarly, to the suspicion of a parent whose child is hiding something that they're not aware of but, at the same time it was very sharp of George to notice that Lennie took out something of their pocket. Later on, as the scene progresses George attempts to force the truth out of Lennie but, Lennie feigns an innocent act and stubbornly tells George they don't have anything. However, George doesn't fall prey to the act and figures out that Lennie carried a mouse with him. In the same way, a parent would not fall to a child's antics and being smart to unearth the truth. Therefore, George short tempered yet astute and parent like.

In the story, "Of Mice and Men" written by John Steinbeck the time period takes place in The Great Depression. "No mess at all, and when the end of the month come I could take my fifty bucks and go into town and get whatever I want," (11 Steinbeck). In this particular line, it inferences that the time period of the book occurred during The Great Depression because, of the value of money. Fifty dollars was seen as a huge amount of money that could buy whatever desires that a person could ever want however, nowadays with a healthy economy fifty dollars is seen as a mediocre amount. In addition to that, "I hoped we was gonna get a little stake together --- maybe a hundred dollars," (30 Steinbeck). During the Great Depression the income that the laborers received were very minimal and can be illustrated, in the book when the characters thought that a good stake would be a hundred dollars. A hundred dollars to them in the book would mean that they could literally buy anything that they wanted since, in the previous line fifty dollars could quench any cravings they had. However, as The Great Depression passed, although to some one hundred dollars is seen as a lot to some but, in terms of working hundred dollars would not be a stake. In conclusion, The Great Depression was depicted in the story and can be reflected into how little amounts of money were greatly treasured.

The Great Depression was a period of time that spanned at the end of the 1920s to 1939. During this time the depression affected economies from all over over the world so, “International trade fell 30 percent as nations tried to protect their industries by raising tariffs on imported goods,” (“The Great Depression in Global Perspective”). In an attempt to repose the countries’ economies by raising tariffs it only persisted and caused more people to suffer the effects of the depression. This was reflected in the year of 1932 in which an estimated 30 million people were unemployed worldwide. In addition to that, “ "Beggar-thy-neighbor" trade policies were a major reason why the Depression persisted as long as it did,” (“The Great Depression in Global Perspective”). The Beggar-thy-neighbor policy was a procedure that countries worldwide followed by borrowing other countries’ money to ease their depression. However, since Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America were all in depressions, it made it harder for countries to ask for these policies. The Great Depression affected many countries, causing a worldwide economic collapse.
However, the Great Depression mostly affected the United States of America. As stated, “In the United States, the Great Depression began soon after the stock market crash of October 1929, which sent Wall Street into a panic and wiped out millions of investors,” (“The Great Depression”). It was important because it was where many Americans invested their stocks. Stocks are important because it determines how much money people are receiving and how much they are losing. A lot of people sold their stocks, making the banks have to loan their money from others. Which in turned closed thousands of banks nationwide. As an effect of the downfall of the economy, “By 1930, 4 million Americans looking for work could not find it; that number had risen to 6 million in 1931,” (“The Great Depression”). This was a huge number of people who were unemployed in America, which was a part of the reason why the Great Depression was so significant in America. Not only that, it affected the people who were still employed by creating lower production rates and falling prices. In conclusion, the Great Depression severely affected America and can be reflected into these extreme statistics.

".... And sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs.. ," (Steinbeck 1).
Worms can easily eat the recumbent shrubs since, the shrubs don't grow from a high location so, the worms don't have to crawl their way up but, just glide their way along the floor.
"George sat up. 'Awright,' he said brusquely, 'Gi'me that mouse!" (Steinbeck 8).
Brusquely: In a manner that is blunt, rough, or abrupt.
The teacher brusquely spoke to the student who was misbehaving in the classroom.

In life, there are always chances. Chances to talk to someone new or something big, like the path that one wants to pursue. And, thats what life is, to take ahold of chances and letting the outcome whether its good or bad unravel itself. However, the thing about opportunities is the risk, the risk that it might not be for the greater good and could end up to be something bitter. Because of that risk most people become fearful of chances since, there is always that possibility of an unfavorable result. In the poem, "A Coney Island Life," written by James L Weil, it portrays that exact idea of chance, and the risk or glory thats attached to it. Throughout the poem, Weil explains this idea by reflecting the chances in life to aspects of an amusement park. By using different components of an amusement park such as prizes it reflects the hidden glory in chances or, how it could be passed up like balloons. However, the author also expresses the feelings of those who do not want to take those opportunities. But, Weil stresses that chances are important because, it will bring them regret. Thus, chances should always be taken because, eventually time will run out and for all the chances that were not taken will leave the person regretful.
Chances, are always present throughout life and in the poem Weil states, "And seen my helium hopes break skyward without me." In this particular line, Weil explains the chances of attaining greatness to a ballon but, it flies away because, it wasn't held onto. Weil utilizes this metaphor, of chances not taken to flying balloons because, many times in life people are afraid of taking a big leap because, of the many risks attached to taking the chances. Since, not every opportunity does not lead to success so, because of that probability people, "play it safe," by letting the chance slip from their hands, like balloons. In comparison, to the next lines, "Now arms filled with dolls I threw so much for." Meaning, instead of being fearful of taking that chance, but taking it, in return, there are "dolls," or awards. What Weil tries to portray is if, the person throws away any fear of the risks that may come along with chances then, there is a possibility of gaining something. All in all, chances are not something, that people should be fearful but, instead embraced because, of the possibility of something great.
However, if people don't embrace opportunities and shy away from it constantly then, soon time will slip out of their hands and only regret will remain. "How many more times round I have.." In other words, the speaker is asking how many more chances they have left before there are no longer, "rounds," or time left for anymore chances to arrive. In this line, the speaker is hinting their regret because, they don't know how much time they left to get ahold of any chances. But, what makes regret bad is because, of the what ifs. The what if, the chance was taken and maybe it could've resulted in something great. But, ultimately what makes regrets so bad, is because of the many possibilities that could've happened but, didn't. "To catch that brass-ring-sun before the game is up.." In this line, it explains the wonder of how much time is left of getting that chance by comparing it to the probability of winning a game. Not only that, the reader can feel the regret in this line because, of the unknowningness of being able to pluck the courage take that chance since there is only so little time left. And thus, in life people must always be aware that if chances are passed up it might lead into regret.
Chances in life are precious because, of the hidden glory that its in it but, if its not taken eventually time will pass and only regret will remain. Chances are ubiquitous in life where they are indirect or direct, there are always opportunities lingering. And, although people could take ahold of that chance at anytime, most of them are afraid because, of the risk. The many risks that are attached to a chance whether it'd be failure, loss, etc creates hesitation in people. However, it is the opportunities that are taken that create success and can be reflected into success or, in the poem, "dolls". Because, of that possibility of glory hidden in every chance, it is stressed that chances should be taken, or else it will expunge any sort of greatness that could've been achieved. And, that could've, what ifs, and maybes of success will only leave regret. And, as time passes the feeling of regret will only grow stronger the more opportunities are shunned. So, as humans it is stressed that all emotions of worry, fear, or hesitation should be let go and to just do it. Just take that chance. Or else, if chances are constantly being passed up eventually there will be none. And there will be no more possibilities of anything good or bad. Thus, to not feel regret, people must gather the courage and grab that chance and maybe, just maybe there will be an award awaiting for them.

The first one meets the requirements and, the second one is just the one that I preferred because, of the simplicity if you were wondering why I had two.

constantly overlooked for something better
tossed around because of my ubiquity
whose value is always undermined by the others
and, so my capabilities are ignored
but, i still linger waiting for someone,
something to realize my worth.
and, it is then in times of need
that i’ll be recognized and so,
I'll appear at the tip of the tongue
ready to be released and assist you
slurs of emotions that are attached to me
are released into shouts and whispers
my power of feeling is unsealed, my two best emotions.
anger that seethes through the sentences
from injustice that touches, you and I
care, for when loved ones are in despair
and my steady flow of reassurance
will bring you back up
and, although i will always linger with you
at the tip of the tongue i rest
until, the need for me is met
and, i’ll flow whenever
for i am constant, and will never fade
because, i am the words that’ll stick with you
